Making Hades Accessible
This guide will show you how to install and use the Hades accessibility mods.
Note: This guide assumes that you have hades already installed. If you need
help with hades’s installation, your search engine of choice is the answer.
extra note: This guide will focus on the steam build because it’s the most
used client among the blind.
Requirements
· Before installing the mods, make sure to grab python version 3.9 or hire
from Python's website.
· NVDA or Jaws or any screen reader with OCR capabilities.

menus:
- D-pad up to check your resources such as health, darkness, etc.
- D-pad down to open up the rewards menu to access rewards such as those that pop up after completing a chamber and god boons at the start of a run. You can also use this menu to access infernal troves, both pools of purging and wells of Charon, as well as the curing poison fountains at the temple of sticx during a chamber run.
Note: each item in the rewards menu can be selected by pressing The A key on your controller. You’ll be teleported to the item that you’ve chosen and you can interact with it by pressing the interact button (RB) on your controller.

You can press B on your controller to exit out of a menu without selecting anything.

The resources and relationships menus can’t be interacted with.

Extra note: JAWS users: Note that JAWS intercepts the escape and backspace
keys, so if you need to pause or cancel, either use key pass-through, or
use shift-escape and shift-backspace instead.
Passive Mods
There are two mods in the package which do not have keystrokes,
as they work in the background:
- NoTrapDamage: Makes Zagreus immune to damage from traps and standing magma. It is near impossible for a blind player to avoid these, so the mod prevents them getting in the way of gameplay.
- GodGaugeSounds: Plays audible cues to indicate the charging status of the god gauge, which is used by Zagreus to evoke a god's aid. As the gauge charges, a ding is played to indicate one charge is available, 2 dings when 2 charges are available, etc., until the entire gauge is full to maximum, at which point a more prominent alert is played.
